The Prettiest Use of Terracotta We've Ever Seen
Terracotta is a rising trend these days. After all, my Pinterest is full of it! I was pinning some images for a post about different ways to use terracotta tiles when I stumbled across THIS BEAUTY.
Designed by TEd'A arquitectes, they used hollow brick, bright colored tiles and a whole lot of plaster for much of the home. Though instead of installing the bricks traditionally (smooth side out), they’ve turned them to expose the unfinished insides and filled with plaster to expose the materials inherent patterning. This holiday home by the sea has walls that rival the visual pleasure of the view itself.
Of course, it's not just the brick that's the star of the show here, but the use of tile that's so incredibly unique, along with raw wood, rough edge tiles smooth plaster... it's all very warm, texturized, and amazing,
Also, here's a fun fact: this project was started in 2013, well before this style of tile was trending.
Even the entrance to the apartments is unique, combining a variety of shapes and patterns in the vile from the ground up. The best part? The materials are very affordable. This type of brick is used mostly for heat or moisture management, so it's not custom, it's just a different style. Pretty cool, huh?
The visual and physical texture of different hues of terracotta, along with different shapes and sizes of stone & brick are incredible.
And while I don’t feel this is the safest stair rail, the juxtaposition between the smooth walls and rough industrial feel of the rebar is stunning from an aesthetic standpoint!
Outside, the decks offer privacy while still allowing for views of the sea.
I don't know about you, but I have a sudden urge to terra cotta my entire house.
