Thanksgiving for Two: Our Holiday Guide to Single Household Celebrations
We’re not sure if you've noticed, but this year has been a little different. You noticed? Yeah, we’re feeling it too.
With the holidays upon us, our favorite traditions may need a certain amount of flexibility. Most noticeably, Thanksgiving. A whole day meant to be spent bringing people together in large groups to share in our feast of the fall harvest and sharing gratitude with one other to create resistance in the growing cold and longer nights.
These gatherings will be a bit smaller this year for the safety and respect of our loved ones and communities. That doesn't mean the day is a wash! In fact, there are so many ways to celebrate (and don't forget, decorate) with just two people. What's great about a holiday is it gives you a chance to celebrate and set the tone for the season.
Step 1: Pour yourself a drink.
First things first, pour yourself a drink (alcoholic or non!) It’s been a year, and you need hydration. We like to start thanksgiving off with a drink like this one: Perfect Cinnamon Apple Cider Mimosa

Step 2: Clean your space.
Step two is basic and you may laugh we even include this, but CLEAN YOUR SPACE. Sure you could do this before, but half the fun of thanksgiving is the setup. Oh, that's just us? Okay, okay, but keep going. From work papers to quarantine crafts- It’s inevitable that papers and projects have leaked over to the dining room table. You would be amazed that just taking some of the clutter and putting it away (or putting it in a box to deal with later) will transform everything. This also includes nik-knacks you have on mantles and shelves. It's a new season and energy will flow so much easier if you shuffle things around a bit. This will let you have a fresh canvas to set the table and add little touches of winter festivity.
Step 3: Set your table.
Set the table together. Go out and clip pine, rosemary, or eucalyptus, really any greenery will do.
Check out your local thrift store for some candelabras if you're feeling fancy, They'll be pretty trendy this year so it doesn't hurt to have them around. Anything candle adjacent is pretty fantastic in our book.

Most important is to just have fun with it. Get moody. Set a vibe. Play some music. And EAT!
Speaking of eating...
Step 4: Cooking!
Since it's likely down to you and your immediate baes, you can cook whatever you'd like. These are the recipes we’re eyeing.

Step 5: Give thanks to others.
Last but certainly not least, we also urge you to learn about the Wampanoag native people who took in the people of the mayflower. Here's an article written by Claire Bogus. History is here today! Though so much is unjust, it can be a form of healing to learn and educated yourself so that further harm can be stopped and avoided.
All of those things are great and we highly encourage you to have fun with it! Bust most importantly:
Give thanks for the people who've supported you this year, and don't forget to give thanks to yourself for doing what you can when you can.
We are thankful for all of you!
